Attendance
At Beaconfields Primary School, we believe that every school day counts. Parents, carers, teachers, school leaders, children and our community all play a vital role in ensuring that our children attend our school.
Regular attendance is not just a legal requirement—it is a vital foundation for a child’s academic success, emotional wellbeing, and long-term development.
When children attend school consistently, they benefit from a structured routine that supports their learning and personal growth. Daily attendance helps children feel connected to their school community, fostering a strong sense of belonging and security. This connection is essential for building confidence, resilience, and positive relationships with peers and adults.
Good attendance also plays a crucial role in educational outcomes. Each day of learning builds on the last, and missing school can create gaps in knowledge that are difficult to bridge. By attending regularly, children are more likely to achieve their full potential, develop a love of learning, and gain the skills they need to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.
Moreover, establishing strong attendance habits in primary school lays the groundwork for lifelong success. It teaches children the importance of commitment, punctuality, and responsibility—values that will serve them well throughout their education and into adulthood.
As a school community, we are committed to working in partnership with families to support good attendance. Together, we can ensure that every child has the best possible start in life.
We are always here to support you and your children. If you would like to discuss your child's attendance with us please do not hesitate to get in touch.
When your child comes to school regularly:
- Children feel like they belong. Your child gets to see their friends, join in with fun activities, and be part of their class team.
- Children feel good. Having a routine—like waking up, getting dressed, and coming to school—helps your child's brain and body feel ready for the day.
- Children learn more. Every day at school is a chance to learn something new. If your child misses days, it can be harder to keep up and feel confident.
- Children build good habits. Coming to school on time and every day helps your child get into great habits that will help them when they are older—like being responsible and organised.
Beaconfields Primary and Nursery School is open from 8:45am- 3:25pm, and the register closes for children at 8:55am. This amounts to 32.5 hours per academic week. The school is open to children for 190 days per year.
